Passing the hat.

I've never had to do this before, and I don't really feel comfortable doing it now, but I don't have much choice, so...*deep breath*

The domain name renewals are coming up for and, followed by the domain name renewal for, followed by hosting renewal for all the sites, including, which then has a domain name renewal of its own.

I spend about $400* a year on hosting and domain names, and have been doing so for several years now, all out of my own pocket, but I just don't have it this year, because I am drowning in medical bills. I have an annual $3,000 health insurance deductible, and I try to remember when I'm feeling bitter that a lot of people have no insurance at all, but these last two years have been rather hellish in terms of ongoing health problems, and I've reached the point where there just isn't any extra money for stuff like this.

So if you've visited and enjoyed any of those sites, and would care to pass along a couple bucks, I'd really appreciate it.

If you don't have a PayPal account, but would still like to donate, let me know and we can work something out. devildollmail at yahoo dot com

Thank you.

*Cost Breakdown, for the curious:

XMMFF,, and Fandom Nation are all hosted on my reseller account at HostDime, I have the Silver account there. You can see a screencap of the CPanel here, showing the account as Silver. (The storage and bandwidth stats on that page are for the files on the actual site, not all the sites combined--those are in each site's CPanel. I use the space to store copies of site backups, and also to host pics I post on LiveJournal and the WRBeta list.) The Silver plan is $340 a year.

The Danger Room is at IMHosted on the Starter plan (screencap of CPanel here.) The Starter plan is $7.95 a month because I pay for a year at a time. That's $95.40 a year. (Though they didn't have that "two free months" thing last time I renewed--I hope they're still offering it when my renewal rolls around.)

Of course, each of the domain names has to be paid for, which is $10 year, though my registrar usually gives me a freebie now and then for having several with them, so we'll say $30 year for domain name registration.

$340.00 + $95.40 + $30.00 = $465.40 annually.
